I think I’ve never posted political things on this blog before. Today is different. No news on Justin Bieber or pop stars.

First, another former US president’s daughter has been hired by NBC. Chelsea Clinton is teaming up with NBC Nightly News” and “Rock Center with Brian Williams” as a Special Correspondent, the network announced today. Her role with the shows and the network will be to highlight news within the “Making a Difference” franchise. She joins on NBC’s payroll Today show correspondent Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former president George Bush, and MSNBC contributor Meghan McCain, daughter of Sen. John McCain.

Now, let’s change our topic to GOP polls. This is good news for Newt Gingrich’s wife Callista Gingrich, whose husband just a few months ago was considered all but dead in the water. Two national polls released this afternoon show Newt Gingrich jumping to the top of the Republican presidential field, beating or statistically tying Mitt Romney and Herman Cain. Gingrich’s roots in two early-voting states - Iowa and South Carolina - put him in a strong position to compete in those states.
